Six million euros to study by rail to Marbella

In the government budget recently announced, but which has not yet received a clear sign in Congress, six million are invested in a plan for rail linking to Marbella. The budget also includes a commitment on the Bobadilla-Algeciras railway corridor for 32 million and a further 12.4 million euros to improve the high-speed rail service AVE to Seville for 12.4 million euros.

There are plans for an expanded commuter train line from Fuengirola to Marbella and Estepona, which attracts the great interest on the coast. There are two options. Either a highway from Málaga via the airport and onwards to Marbella.

Or to extend the current commuter train line C-1 to Fuengirola to Marbella and Estepona. In the latest budget, EUR 6 million is being spent on preparing a study of planned rail projects on the Costa del Sol, "Estudios y proyectos del tren de la Costa del Sol".

Further infrastructure investments concern an entry to Málaga airport northwards and improvements in the road network between Alhaurín de la Torre and Málaga's transit network.

At Málaga airport, renovations will be carried out at terminal 2.
